General Impression
Overall Rating:
/ 10I can't recommend this program enough! Rwanda is a stunningly beautiful country with a rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and some of the friendliest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The local team is small but mighty, much like the children it supports; its close-knit staff welcomed me warmly and always made an effort to incorporate me into every step of their work, making me feel like I was truly a member of the team. I did a bit of work on the women's farming cooperative, which was beautifully scenic in addition to being manned by a group of lovely, kind women who were a pleasure to work alongside.
Most often, though, I spent my time visiting families, helping translate children's letters to their sponsors, and teaching at the homework club. The children were all very sweet and polite and so adorable. Visiting families in various villages really helped me feel immersed in the culture and allowed me to explore different parts of Rwamagana. Teaching at the homework club was definitely my favorite experience - all of my students were excited to learn and very eager to practice their English. I left Rwanda less than a week ago and I already miss the kids so much!
Overall this is a great program that provides the opportunity to have an amazing, life-changing experience. I'm so glad that I went to Rwanda with Love Volunteers, and I can't wait to go back next summer!
