Cameroon is, unfortunately, closed to international arrivals without a valid reason for travel.

Volunteer projects in Cameroon are available in Bamenda and Younde and focus on medical assistance in clinics and hospitals. Programs are desperately in need of international volunteers with an interest or experience in the medical field. Volunteering makes a palpable difference to the lives of people who have been blighted by poverty, un-modernised practices and inequality.

Volunteering overseas - particularly in a challenging environment - is an experience you will look back on with pride. It will bring a greater understanding of, and compassion for, humanity. With volunteers in Cameroon coming from many walks of life and generations, it is often a way of forging new and lasting friendships.

The country is nicknamed “Little Africa” as, geographically Cameroon consists of coastline, mountains, grass plains, forest, rainforest and desert; all of the geographical regions in Africa in one country. Compared with other African countries, Cameroon enjoys relatively high political and social stability. This has allowed the development of a number of growing industries, including railways, agriculture, timber, roading and petroleum. Nevertheless, large numbers of Cameroonians continue to live in poverty.

The challenge of volunteering in Cameroon is one which brings intense rewards. Volunteers in Cameroon are able to make a genuine difference by offering valuable support to communities in need.

A dramatic and highly photogenic country, Kenya is a hugely varied land of plains and mountains, beaches flanked by coral reefs, alongside lively tribal culture and possibly the most crowd-pulling wildlife on the planet. In some respects, this one small country essentially encompasses all Africa.

To volunteer in Kenya is to transport oneself to a distinctly different world... one where the beauties of nature sit alongside the multiple disadvantages suffered by poor tribes-people, the sick and the orphaned. Volunteering overseas - particularly in a challenging environment - is an experience you will look back on with pride. It will bring a greater understanding of, and compassion for, humanity. With volunteers in Uganda coming from many walks of life and generations, it is often a way of forging new and lasting friendships. Volunteering in Uganda gives you the chance to live amongst a population urgently requiring help.

Uganda is toward the east of Africa and borders the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda. The bulk of the country comprises a plateau, which is 4,000 feet above sea level. Lake Victoria occupies a large part of the south of the country. While predominantly Christian, Uganda has many cultures living within its borders, and several African languages are spoken.

The programs that Love Volunteers is involved with have few resources and would find it difficult to operate without the valuable input and assistance from our volunteers in Uganda.

Love Volunteers, along with our partner in Rwanda, arranges positions for volunteers to assist with teaching, childcare and community development programs. The volunteer programs are located in Rwamagana which is about one hour east of the capital, Kigali and is a relatively big town by Rwandan standards.

During their placement, volunteers make a valuable contribution to the people of Rwanda who have suffered greatly as a result of the horrific genocide that occurred just two decades ago. Our partner works very closely with disadvantaged communities, projects and institutions that have been set up to provide aid directly to the people affected by this terrible event. With the help of volunteers we hope to make a difference in the lives of many Rwandan families and communities in need.

Rwanda is a small mountainous country in central Africa, bordered to the north by Uganda, to the east by Tanzania, to the south by Burundi and to the west by the Democratic Republic of Congo. Rwanda's economy suffered heavily during the 1994 Genocide, with widespread loss of life, failure to maintain the infrastructure, looting, and neglect of important cash crops. However, Rwanda has made a remarkable recovery which is mostly due to subsistence agriculture in the form of coffee and tea crops for export, and a fast-growing tourism industry.

The challenge of volunteering in Rwanda is one which brings intense rewards. Volunteers are able to make a genuine difference by offering valuable support to those in need. Volunteering in this beautiful African country can only be described as an incredibly fulfilling experience, one to look back on with a mixture of emotions, but certainly with a new depth of understanding of the human condition.

Love Volunteers offers placement opportunities in Senya Beraku, on the Cape Coast in Central Ghana, 2 ½ hours from Accra. Volunteers are needed to assist in schools, community care centers, medical centers and a creative arts center.

Deciding to volunteer in Africa means you are likely to be stepping into the unknown. It will be both a challenging and a rewarding experience, one to look back on with a mixture of emotions, but certainly with a new depth of understanding of the human condition. Living among the local Ghanaian people is the perfect way to experience their culture directly.

Often, volunteering in Ghana is the choice of the gap-year student, but it can equally serve as a grounding experience and a break from the norm for anyone, from new graduates to career-breakers, retired and semi-retired individuals, organised groups from churches and other associations, as well as professionals granted a leave of absence to gain experience.

Situated in the west of Africa, the small country of Ghana was formerly known as the Gold Coast. There is evidence of human settlement going back to 1500 BC. Basking in the delightfully warm climate afforded by its location in the Gulf of Guinea, Ghana is home to around 24 million people who speak up to 47 different ethnic languages, as well as, in the majority of cases, English. A cocoa-producer, Ghana has not suffered the conflicts of many other African countries and is reasonably well developed. Nevertheless, much of its population is disadvantaged and badly in need of the help that volunteers in Ghana can give.

Ghana is a colourful and interesting country with many diverse ethnic groups. It has a background in cultural dance and sport, as well as producing eye-boggling textiles. Volunteers in Ghana contribute hugely to the lives of many marginal groups held back by poverty and deprivation.

Together with the team in Morocco, Love Volunteers’ offer a variety of placements that include working with children, teaching English, French or Spanish, as well as working with women’s groups in this fascinating North African country, a place with a long, varied history and hospitable people.

Volunteering in Morocco brings both challenges and rewards. Besides caring for children and community projects, volunteers are required for teaching projects where their pupils – from poor backgrounds – in many cases have learning difficulties. Without the help that volunteers provide, their prospects would be far more limited. A volunteers’ willingness to share and ability to be proactive in their role makes them a valuable addition to any classroom. Enriching the lives of others is what volunteering is about.

Lying in Africa’s northwest corner, across the Gibraltar Straits from Spain, Morocco has its own very distinct Arabic culture. With coastline on the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean, it lies between Algeria and the Western Sahara. The population of Morocco is a little over 32 million.

Volunteers from all backgrounds have the opportunity to make a great contribution in Morocco. By volunteering, one gets to savour a different culture and to form bonds with people who genuinely need help and support. Volunteering in Morocco, besides being culturally stimulating, also provides an excellent opportunity to improve one’s French and learn some Arabic.
